Wiwo Grocers
Fresh take on grocery shopping.
Located in Boston, Massachusetts, Wiwo is a technologically based grocery store aiming to make shopping affordable and friendly. The grocers name is an acronym standing for walk in, walk out—explaining their goal as a grocery store, efficiency. The shopper has complete control over what they put in their cart, what they remove from it, and the pace at which they shop without any worry.
Senior Project 2022
Wiwo is created to feel comforting, similar to a farmers market. Removing the rigidity of technology based approaches. Bright colors and fruit imagery work to create Wiwo's vibrant, welcoming character. Wiwo aims to change the narrative of grocery shopping from being a hassle to a pleasant, and maybe even enjoyable experience.
Advancing Grocery Retail.
Two ways Wiwo helps its immediate community is by producing less waste and affordability. Wiwo does not provide bags, however, reusable bags are available for purchase. Since items are being immediately scanned, they can go straight into your own bags in the cart! Not having bags allows the store to produce and accumulate less waste.
Being affordable is a top priority. The U.S. has fallen behind in grocery. A main cause of this is the variety in brands on the shelf. When shopping with Wiwo, the majority of goods are private label, Wiwo brand items. This allows for better regulation of production leading to lower prices. The cost benefit attracts shoppers and progresses grocery retail in the United States. Most of my inspiration and research came from my internship with Southeastern Grocers.
